Bayonetta and Corrin are here!

The latest Smash Bros. fighters, Bayonetta and Corrin, are finally here, and they are freaking awesome! Hailing from... well... Bayonetta and Fire Emblem Fates, the pair hit the eShop today and have already been all over the online matches. And for good reason: each of them has their own style and flair that really liven up the battlefield.

Corrin is arguably the most unique Fire Emblem character we've ever seen in Smash alongside Robin. It really is nice to have another Fire Emblem character who isn't basically a clone of Marth. Corrin's melee range is amazing, with his Side-Smash acting as a great tool for spacing. Not to mention his Neutral Special ("Dragon Fang Shot") that first fires a stunning projectile and then follows up with a heavy chomp from his dragon hand if the opponent's close enough. If they're not then don't worry, they'll get sent flying anyway! It's an awesome move but it can get spammy.

His Side Special ("Dragon Lunge") is immensely satisfying to land when you peg your opponent in place before following up with a huge kick. Naturally, being from Fire Emblem, Corrin's Down Special is a counter during which he turns into a dragon and launches opponents upwards. It works beautifully in the air, great for some cheeky kills on unsuspecting foes going for the Up-Air kill.

The winner of the Smash Ballot, Bayonetta is great fun to play, her combo-based play style beautifully capturing the feeling and style of her own games. She's got decent spacing with her Neutral B ("Bullet Climax") which makes great use of her four guns to lay into opponents.

Furthermore Bayonetta's counter is easily THE BEST one in the game. "Witch Time" slows the opponent down based on their damage percent and frequency of use, whilst Bayonetta is free to punish with whichever move you choose. If that's not enough, if you pull off the counter too late it becomes "The Bat Within" that minimizes the damage dealt and teleports Bayonetta away.

Aside from a wicked counter, her Side-Special ("Heel Slide") and Up-Special ("Witch Twist") look flashy and combo into each other fantastically when used on the ground. "Heel Slide" also becomes "Afterburner Kick" when used in the air which can be angled downwards.

If you haven't got either Bayonetta or Corrin yet then get round to it as soon as you can. Both of them are definitely worth it!
